the easiest process to edit the customSpec.json is to download onto your local machine and do the necessary edits, and load it back up to the server to continue to the next step.
the fastest and easiest method is to use filezilla to do the FTP

After downloading and installing Filezilla, you will need to set up the keys to connect to your instance. you can use the rsa key you generated on your local machine previously
in that example, we created a RSA key called vivaldiGCP. you can insert that into your public key authentication on filezilla.

after you have inserted the authentication key into Filezilla setting, you will need to setup the site manager to allow your connection to your instance.

Select New Site and input the relevant details:


when you have completed the setting, click connect.
you will see the prompt below:

if you have set up a passphrae, you will be prompted to enter 👍

if you have entered the correct information, this is what you will see:

you can now navigate to the correct folder to download the customSpec.json to your local machine to edit.

click Download and it will transfer to your local machine folder

now you can edit your customSpec.json in your local machine
